GIRLS FIRST EVER GAME ..

Girls v Under 7s

FC Highnam Girls had a mixed debut into the `Beautiful Game`  . A Strong Highnam Boys Under 7s A team were hungry for action and set about putting the girls under real pressure in this friendly encounter.

In the 1st Period The Older girls showed a lot of nerves in the opening 15 minutes and fell behind to 3 well struck goals .

Starting line up Natasha GK . Tianna. Ellin. Katie. Jazz. Tiggy. Beth. All put lots of effort in and tried to play a bit of football.

2nd Period - The younger girls were matched up against the Under 7s B Squad.  The ever improving Kelsey Harris opened the scoring for the Girls following some good passing moves. Kelsey then added the second moments later. Then completed her hat trick near the end of the half.

Starting line up - Katie GK.  Ella. Kelsey, Rebecca, Amie, Jazz, Tiggy.

3rd Period - The Older Girls moved up a gear and the Boys Under 7s A`s were soon a goal down - Scored by Kelsey Harris.

The best goal of the game came from a corner - The ball was floated across the penalty area for  Tianna Harris to`rise like a salmon` to head the ball into the back of the net.

Natasha Dean found the net following a fine run to add to tally.

Starting line up : Jazz GK, Ellin, Tianna, Kelsey, Katie, Beth, Natasha

4th Period - The younger girls picked up were they had left off in their first half. Natasha Dean added 2 quick goals. Jazz and Kelsey the others.

Starting Line up: Amie GK, Rebecca, Ella, Cennia, Tiggy, Jazz, Natasha, Kelsey.

Overall review - Played 4 halves. Won 3 . Lost 1

Once the nerves had settled the Girls really got stuck in and battled. It was good to see things that have been coached over the 10 weeks together being used in the game. ie heading, passing movement, shooting.

As Our Clubs first ever Girls team game every player Totally enjoyed the whole experience .. Well done Crew RR

Girls V Under 8s

Playing against a stronger Under 8s side - The youngers Girls found it hard going against the faster boys, and soon found themselves 3-0 down in the first Quarter.

The Older girls were sent on in the 2nd Quarter to stem the tide which they did losing 2-1

Switching the girls back around in the 3rd Quarter again drawing 1-1

The 4th Quater seen the Girls get on top and sneak into a 2-1 lead

Final score 7-4 to the boys

Positive things that came from this run out - Good Attitude, Passing was good and tackling was a bit more meaning full. Positionally we are getting there.

But another good game time experience.

Top find today was Katie as a Goalie she was outstanding. Rebecca did well in her first try between the sticks.

Goal scorers; Jess , Beth, Kelsey 2 ,

Squad: Katie, Ellin, Beth, Tianna, Natasha, Lydia, Ella, Amie, Kelsey, Siennia, Tiggy, Jess, Rebecca, Well Done again crew RR
