FC Highnam Under 13's

Sunday 5th September
FC Highnam - 0
Harrow Hill - 5
Harrow Hill start the season with two new srikers putting Highnam under a lot of pressure and catching out the defence too many times.
After the first half we were down by 5 goals, during the second half Highnam got their act together and held off many brakethroughs from the opposition.
Thanks to the goal keeper Matt Hill for saving many shots and keeping the score at 5-0 till the final whistle.

Sunday 19th September
FC Highnam - 3
Broadwell - 1
Well contained first half keeping Broadwell in there own half, not giving them a shot at goal. Corners, free kickes and lots of pressure, Highnam still could not get a goal. A Free kick from mark taylor missed narrowly over the crossbar. In the second half, Broadwell came out a lot stonger and pushed hard, suceeding by scorring after the first 10 minets of sustained pressure. Highnam then dug in and returned with a nice ball though to Pat O'Reilly, who took on the keeper and scored. Broadwell had some good chances but did not convert them into goals. 15 minets from the end, Derrin Turley scored 2 goals to finish off a deturmind highnam game.

Sunday 26th September
FC Highnam - 1
Brockworth - 4
A well played game of football by both teams. Brockworth were a well prepared team and worked hard from the start until the final whistle. Highnam held them off well until a shot from Brockworth luckily slipped through goal keeper, Mat Hill's hands. Giving Brockworth their first goal of the match. Highnam picked themsevles up and a good break from Josh Dowle, who took the ball all the way to the edge of the box and shot, getting it past the keeper, giving highnam the equaliser. Highnam then followed this up again with yet another break from Pat O'Reilly, who got taken out by a defender from the right. This challenge gave the defender a yellow card, and earned Highnam a free kick. Josh Dowle took the freekick, which went wide of the goal. Derrin Turley broke through, narrowly missing out on scoring after hitting the crossbar. In the second half, Highnam looked a better overall team, pressure on the keeper from shots off Pat O'Reilly were saved. Highnam then had a goal disallowed after a shot from Derrin Turley. Brockworth then moved players forward which increased the pressure on Highnam massively, and succseeded in Brockworth scorring their second goal, a third goal towards the end of the game after a Brockworth player taking a good ball very well. Highnam then conceeded a fourth goal in the closing minutes, giving Brockworh the icing on the cake.

Sunday 3rd October
FC Highnam - 8
Windsor Drive - 0
Too much action to report.
Highnam dominated the game from the start to finish.
Goal Scorers were:
- Kyle Harper (who scored two)
- Josh Burns
- Josh Dowle
- Derrin Turley
- Patrick O'Reilly (who scored a hat trick)
A wet day which turned into a very good one for FC Highnam Under 13's!!

Sunday 10th October
FC Highnam - 9
Painswick - 2
Not the best of starts, Highnam going 1 - 0 down in the first 5 minutes. But Highnam soon picked their game up with a great run through by Josh Dowle and a solid strike scoring Highnam's equaliser. After their first goal, Highnam dominated the game, creating good chances and not letting up on pressure from start to finish. Josh Dowle stacked up his goal tally scoring 4 good goals, Josh Burns was hot on his heels scoring 3. Pat O'Reilly managed to also score 2 more goals on top to finish of a convincing performance, with Highnam setting a very good pace of passing. With the Highnam defence stopping the Painswick strikers from having any real chances at goal, Painswick could not seem to score. However, the Painswick players got a lucky break and fed the ball narrowly between the keepers outreached hand and the post making the score 9 - 2 to Highnam. Well done boys another good win!

Sunday 24th October
League Cup - Round One.
FC Highnam - 0
Rodborough - 4
Highnam were down before the game started with two good players out with injurys and hollidays. Rodborough were very good from the very first second, starting the first half with two good goals, making Highnam not have any real opportunities at goal. Much the same story in second half with Highnam having a great goal dissallowed for offside. However, when the boys return for the league match expect a different performance with the squad back up to full strength.

Sunday 31st October
FC Highnam - 1
Lydney Town - 4
Boys put up a good fight against Lydney Town, even though they weren't used to the hilly ground. One nil down in the first half, wasn't too bad but in the second half we conceeded three goals even though we hit the crossbar twice and the upright once, things still didn't go our way. John Greenough stopped the ball from going over the line and Matt Hill saved a few good shots to stop Lydney Town conceeding any more goals. With two good players still injured, Highnam struggled on, but Adam Collier was able to score Highnam's only goal in the last few minutes before the final whistle.

Sunday 21st November
FC Highnam - 1
Rodborough - 4
Well what a game for easy goals. Highnam still lost without Josh Dowle, only playing 10minutes due to picking up an injury. Rodborough played a very fast game upfront with players making good moves. Matt Hill, the goalkeeper, saved the ball from going out for a corner but could not keep both hands on it and gave Rodborough their first goal of the game. Things didn't get much better and by the half time whistle FC Highnam were 2 - 0 down.
Highnam played a lot better in the second half and made some good attempts at goal but just couldn't break through the oppositions defence. Two more goals from Rodborough bouncing off every player in the box, making it 4-0. A good ball through to striker Patrick O'Reilly who took on the defence before chipping the ball over the keeper's outreached hands making it 4-1 after the final whistle.

Sunday 9th January
FC Highnam - 3
Lydney - 1
A well played game, that Highnam generally dominated, creating lots of chances and holding up a solid defence. The first goal was scored by Pat O'Riely in the first half, gaining yet another goal to his tally. In the second half Lydney capitalised on Highnam's momentary lack of concentration and scored an equaliser. Then Highnam came back and scored, through a great goal from Josh Dowle, who then followed it up with another soon after. Overall, a solid performance and a well played game by the Highnam boys.

Sunday 23rd January
Milkwall - 2
FC Highnam - 9
Highnam dominated the game from start to finish and the end result reflects this. However, it was an unfair battle as Milkwall haven't won a game this season due to the struggle of finding players. Scorers were Adam Collier who scored three, Alex Hill who scored three, Pat O'Reilly who scored 2 and Ben Woodliffe who scored 1.

Sunday 6th February
FC Highnam - 1
Brockworth Albion - 3
A windy day dominated the match, it was a lotery game where anyone could have won. Highnam lost the toss, so we had an advantage witht the wind behind us. Aquality ball from Mark Taylor, high in the sky, still a mistery why the goal keeper did not catch it. Instead he kicked it, directly to the feet of daren Turley, who was on side and shot, scoring a great goal to leave highnam up by one at half time. The second half was less sucsessfull where the wind meant that Brockworth had lots and scorred three goals , to win 3 - 1 .

For the second time in the last three years the under 13's have won the Gloucestershire Youth League Sportsmanship Award for their age group. Well done boys!
