Playing on the Astro turf @ the Abbeymead Community Centre, The Highnam Lads again played some good football for their age, whilst most teams chase and huddle around the ball , These boys know what they are supposed to do and are a well drilled side.
Luke Coldridge was the tournament top scorer pushing up into midfield he seem to relish in his new found freedom.
Sam Cook in the Highnam goal pulled off some good saves when called upon , but mostly he spent the game as a spectator.
The defensive duo of Owen Fishpool and Jacob Balkwill were as mean as ever in the tackle and got the ball to others.
Joe Smerdon, Rohan Desai, Jazz Elliott all put in a shift in the middle of the park along guest player Ethan Moulden from Rodborough, who enjoyed his role along side the Highnam lads.
Rio Spencer buzzed about up front and was a constant thorn in the opponents sides.
Team Squad: Rio Spencer , Jazz Elliott, Rohan Desai, Luke Coldridge, Joe Smerdon, Ethan Moulden, Jacob Balkwill, Sam Cook, Owen Fishpool.
All the boys received medals for their efforts - Well done all .

********* Match report v Milkwall Under 7s *******
With only 9 players turning up in the Highnam camp, They had to save their legs for this two gamed affair .
Game 1 - FC Highnam 1 v Milkwall As 4
Sam Cook got on the score sheet in this game, despite the score line the mainly under 6s squad held their own. Rio Spencer had a couple of efforts well saved and a Jazz Elliott fizzer went just past a post. Some good skillfull touches from a few showed that the skills they learnt on the training ground was put into practice in this game in. Russ made things harder for the lads by playing 7 v 8 .
Game 2 - FC Highnam 0 v Milkwall Bs 2
This game was so close for so long... but with 3 mins left on the refs watch Milkwall sneaked a goal, then in the final minute they sealed the win with a well worked goal. This was a brilliant effort by the boys who again played 7 v 8 and matched the older boys pound for pound. had there been fresh legs available on the side lines i think this would ahve been a different result.
Man of the Match - Harry Clarke - covered every blade of grass and looked qualility in midfield.

****** Match report v Rodbourgh*****
The lads were split into 2 teams .. with a mixture of U7s & U6s in each side . Each player had a full game to develop and put into practice what they had been coached over the last few months ..
Highnam A`s 5 v Boro 0
It may have been Hat trick hero Rio Spencer who was the lad that caught the eye .. But all his team mates chipped in wtih a good workman like performances to help him get his goals .. Kade Jones in the Highnam goal was just a spectator, because his defenders Jazz Elliott, Luke Coldridge were in sparkling form to keep the visitors out. Sam Cook and the busy Harry Clarke linked up well with Rohan Desai to create space for the in form Rio Spencer .
Luke Coldridge added Highnams 4th goal , just before Jazz Elliott sealed the Highnam boys win near the end..
Highnam B`s 0 v Boro 5
This was the first start for some of these Highnam players and the slightly more street wise Boro side seized their opportunity to seek revenge for the first game score ..
Sam` Migel `Kenna in the Highnam goal was on top form, He pulled off a string of saves to keep his team in the game right at the start .. Kade Jones enjoyed his run out of goal in this game, His tackling saved the Highnam back line on several occasions. Spencer Weale did well in his first ever game for the club by keeping his position in defence, when others wondered off .
The Midfield trio of Owen Fishpool , William Gallas and Jacob Balkwill ran their hearts out, just trying to compete with the extra man advantage that Boro had .. Jasper Binns up front had a couple of chances to stretch his legs and run at the defenders, but the Boro boys defended in numbers to foil the Highnam forwards.
With several of the regular Highnam players away or unavailable, this was always going to be a tough ask. So well done to the Highnam Boys.
