FC Highnam Youth Development

Youth development

 Russell Ralph Training is held on a Saturday morning at Highnams home pitch of Oakridge. (Which is located opposite the Village school at the top end of the Estate).

The Under 5s/6s/7s start at 9.30 till 10.30 with the Under 8s starting at 10.30 till 11.30.

Our Coach Russ Ralph arranges Fun and Friendly Matches against other local clubs, which gives the players a chance to develop and gain valuable match experience.

Russ has been coaching youth football for over 20 years at local and at County Level. He holds  FA Coaching Badges. As with all the Coaches within the club and he is FA - CRB Checked and a trained First Aider.

About Russ

Russ started his footballing career
in the ranks of the then famous
Newent Youth Football Club system,
Where he reperesented Gloucestershire
Schools at U16 / U18 County Level.

At 16 he was also chosen to Captain
the Stroud U16s League
representative side.

Following trials at Southampton where he played against other big clubs youth sides.

He then broke into the Newent Town
FC team playing over 10 seasons at
Northern Senior Level then County
League level.

In 1990 Russ took his FA Coaching
badge. With this formed the Saturday
Morning Club at Newent Youth FC,
where he produced a bunch of under 9
local lads that were known as
The dream team. These boys
went onto win the Gloucester Youth
league U10 /U11/ U12 / U13
League and Cup doubles. Also
reaching a County Cup final which
they fell to their one and only
defeat in 5 yrs.

 

Russ Is currently Coaching the Under 7`s Elite players  @ West Bromwich Albion Development Centre in Gloucester.

In his 6 years with the club, FC Highnam he has developed several hard working well organised teams that have proved very hard to beat. These teams have gone on to win many a local 6 aside Tournament. These teams are passed on to hand picked Parents to take into the local league structure.

The 1 hour Coaching Session is structured to develop the players all round playing ability. The players are coached the basics and are allowed to develop new skills along the way.

Warm Up - 15 mins
Topic - 20 mins
Small sided Game 25 mins

Joining in the fun could not be simplier - Just Turn up....Bring Shin Pads and a Drink, and a Smile.

Please note we Train in all winds and weathers - Gale force wind / Rain / Sun / and even Snow ... So make sure your child comes dressed for that days elements.
